Greymoor Farm in Elko, Minnesota, owned by Donna Hentges, boasts a small but internationally successful breeding program. The foundation of the program was First Cyte, a Multi-National Champion stallion who produced both National and International Champions, and three carefully selected broodmares who all produced National Champions. Foals from those crosses won an amazing 41 National Top Tens and 16 National Championships in halter. First Cyte daughters are now the farm’s second-generation broodmares and (bred to outside stallions) have carried on the legacy of producing National Champions.

Representing over two decades of research, Donna’s breeding program has taken a new and exciting turn with the birth in 2016 of GM Targaryen (Kanz Albidayer x Drama Qyeen). His parents are both Multi-National Champions and there are 25 National winners or producers of National winners in the first six generations of his pedigree. The mares in Targaryen’s dam line have produced National winners for four generations. Already proving himself in the showring, his first foals are meeting all expectations.

Not only is Donna a very successful breeder, but she has had great success in marketing her horses as well, both in the United States and abroad. Donna’s most recent foals have been exported to international breeders who have enjoyed success with them in the show ring and in their breeding programs. Small breeders truly can have an international influence.
